In Front of the Camera: Q&A with Actress Chloe May

For actress and charity-sector professional Chloe May, joining the cast of Cradle was both a personal and professional homecoming. In this conversation, she reflects on stepping back onto set, the joy of working alongside her daughter, and why Home-Start’s mission resonates so deeply with her own values.

What inspired you to get involved/take part?
I work for a charity and have been in the charity sector for the last few years, so being involved with another amazing charity was a no-brainer. I really believe in the power of community and supporting families, and Home-Start’s mission really resonated with me.

Can you describe the film in 3 words?
Inspiration, Community, Hope.

Why should someone support Home-Start?
Because the work they do changes lives. Home-Start is there for families during their most vulnerable times, offering practical and emotional support when it’s needed most. By supporting them, you’re helping to give children a better start and empowering parents to feel less alone.

What was your favourite moment during filming?
Working with my daughter, Bea, was such a highlight. Sharing that experience with her and seeing her enjoy being part of it made it really special. It was also my first time back on set in a long while, so it felt wonderful to step into the acting world again. On top of that, meeting everyone, hearing their stories, and learning more about the incredible work Home-Start does made the whole experience even more meaningful.

What do you hope audiences take away from the film?
That supporting families can have a ripple effect that lasts a lifetime. I hope people walk away feeling moved, inspired, and motivated to get involved — whether that’s volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word about Home-Start’s work.

Cradle was created to shine a light on the vital, life-changing support Home-Start provides to families across London. If you’re inspired by the stories behind the film, find out more about volunteering with your local Home-Start here.
