Home-Start London is delighted to announce that TV Presenter and writer Mel Giedroyc has become Patron of the new charity, formed to help Home-Start schemes across London support even more vulnerable families with their unique volunteer home visiting programme.
Collectively, Home-Starts in London work with over 1500 families a year, the majority of whom have one or more children under five. The schemes’ trade mark early intervention approach includes training and placing home visiting volunteers with families from all walks of life who are finding it difficult to cope. By providing non-judgemental practical and emotional support, Home-Start helps parents find ways to manage and sort out their difficulties before they can escalate into something more serious.
“As a parent in London I am well aware of the challenges and difficulties that young families can face and the often crucial need for some knowledgeable and friendly support to help them to improve their situations and prevent crisis and breakdown further down the line,” commented Mel Giedroyc.
